A luo pan is a feng shui compass which allows those who use it to learn very important and basic information regarding their environment’s energy, direction and orientation of every house area as well as allow them to reach the proper balance and harmony. According to the traditions, the luo pan was originated four thousand years ago in China in the Yellow Emperor times. There are many different luo pans, but the most known and used ones by feng shui practitioners around the world are the San Yuan and the San He ones.

The San He luo pan contains the characteristic of having three rings of the twenty four mountains. This luo pan is often called the Yang Kung pan due to Grand Master Yang Yun Song who belonged to the Tang Dynasty. This Grand Master was who started using the San He luo pan in its practices and recommending it to his apprentices.

The feng shui school of San He luo pan provides this tool with the three systems which it combines: the eight mansions or pa chai, the mountain dragons or shan long, and the water dragons or shui long. The San he luo pan can also be recognized by the three rings of the twenty four mountains which clearly differentiate it from other luo pans.
